At Mediqation, we are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy describes how Mediqation collects, uses, and protects the personal information you provide when you use our medication reminder application. By using Mediqation, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Information Collection and Use
Personal Information
Any personal health information entered into Mediqation, such as medication names, dosages, instruction notes, photos, and any notes you provide, remains stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers or shared with third parties.
We don’t have access to your personal and sensitive data includes, but isn’t limited to, personally identifiable information, financial and payment information, authentication information, phonebook, contacts, device location, SMS and call-related data, Health Connect data, inventory of other apps on the device, microphone, camera, and other sensitive device or usage data.
When uninstalling the application, most of the data is deleted, although Android may retain some parts of it in certain instances. The recommended method for deleting your data is to remove the Mediqation app data from your Android settings first, and then proceed with uninstalling the app.
If we decide to implement cloud syncing or storage capabilities in the future, we will obtain your direct consent before uploading your personal health information data to the cloud.
When you want to contact support from Mediqation, we automatically include some basic information about your phone, such as device brand, device model, Android version, and app version, to accelerate potential issues checking. You can delete this information before sending the email.
Reminder Reliability Logs
We record technical metadata around reminder events only to diagnose missed/unfired alarms. We never log your medication names, doses, photos, or notes.
These logs are stored and processed in Google Firebase (Google Cloud), where Google acts as our data processor. We aim to keep data in EU regions where available; limited support operations may involve transfers outside the EEA. Such transfers use appropriate safeguards (e.g., Google’s Data Processing Terms, Standard Contractual Clauses, and/or the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework). Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is restricted to authorized personnel and Google only to provide the service.
What’s captured: such as App/device state, notification/permission status, reminder telemetry (e.g., “MISFIRE_DETECTED”, scheduled/expected timestamps, internal IDs, timezone), and non-identifying install info (random installId).
Not captured: any medication content or precise personal identifiers.
Why: to detect and fix delivery issues and improve reminder reliability.
Legal basis (GDPR): Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Retention: kept briefly (e.g., 30–90 days), then deleted or aggregated.
Sharing: limited to our team and Firebase/Google as processors under DPAs. No advertising or profiling.
Third-Party Services
Mediqation uses a third-party service, Google Firebase, for analytics, reporting crashes and performance monitoring. This service may collect non-personal information about your device and usage patterns, such as device type, operating system version, advertising ID, and usage statistics to help us improve Mediqation. Please refer to the privacy policies of Google Firebase for more information on how it collects, uses, and protects your data.
Data Download & Deletion
Your personal health information is stored solely on your device, and we do not have access to your medical records. Therefore, we are unable to assist with downloading your data. When you uninstall Mediqation or delete its data, all stored information is permanently removed from your device.
Selling Data
We don’t have access to your medical records and personal data, therefore we couldn’t sell them to any company, or third-party.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the information stored within Mediqation on your device. However, please be aware that no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, especially on rooted devices, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your data.
Data Retention
Any information entered into Mediqation remains on your device until you uninstall Mediqation or delete its data. We do not retain any personal health information on our servers.
Children’s Privacy
Mediqation is not intended for use by anybody under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and become aware that your child has provided us with personal information in any way, please contact us so that we can take appropriate action.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any material changes to this Privacy Policy by posting the updated version on our website or within Mediqation. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
